IRIS BOX PC APPLICATON NOTE: SEA TIDE OUTSTATION

HARBOUR SEA LEVEL MEASUREMENT AND LOGGING

FOR HARBOUR AND COASTAL FLOOD RISK CHARACTERIZATION

The ocean sciences related basque research centre AZTI-TECNALIA has collaborated with the local company ISURKI in the deployment of his IRIS BOX PC embedded computers and CNC4200 series sea level sensors for the collection of data focused to determine sea level behaviours and coastal flood risk characterization according to the acquired data.

 

Researchers of AZTI-TECNALIA analyze the real time and logged data provided by the IRIS BOX PC outstation at the Pasaia harbour in order to factorized the sea level measured data into three significant parameters:

  • Astronomical tide.
  • Meteorological tide.
  • Harbour agitation.

The aim is to forecast and warn about undesirable docking and pilot operations scenarios inside the harbour, enhancing the comprehension of the effect that the mentioned parameters have into the inner harbour security, operation and navigation.

The level sea measured by the CNC4200 transducer is acquired by the IRIS BOX PC outstation, filtered and logged for the further analysis.

Data are provieded through out the IRIS BOX PC ethernet connection to the customer’s LAN, thus providing instantaneous access to real time values as well to the text format logging files.

The 3G version of the IRIS BOX PC allows wireless access to/from any internet connected device, such as laptops, tablets and smart phones.
