NEW VB.NET LIBRARY FOR SENDING SMS MESSAGES FROM A WINDOWS CE BASED DEVICE

NEW VB.NET LIBRARY FOR SENDING SMS MESSAGES FROM A WINDOWS CE BASED DEVICE

Enhancing the features of our last SDK version for ISURKI's IRIS BOXED PC controller, the recent launch of the IRIS_GSM.dll library offers a simply way of sending SMS messages by means of a GSM modem in a fast and effective way, with the advantage that it can be used in any Windows CE based device.

The IRIS_GSM library user is awarded with the next functionalities:

  • AvailPort: Gets the available RS232 ports at the device.

  • RS232config: configures the selected RS232 port to connect with the modem.

  • OpenPort: Opens the RS232 port.

  • RSSI: gets the current Radio Signal Strength Indication from the modem.

  • SendSMS: Sends a SMS message.

  • DllVer: returns the version of the current library.

The IRIS_GSM library significantly simplifies the editing and sending of short messages which informs about process parameters current values, on/off status, counters, alarms signalling,... as well as any information concerning the process controlled by the IRIS BOXED PC or by any Windows CE device, by simply configuring the three parameters that define the function:

  • telephone number of the recipient.

  • Text to send.

  • Expected time-out to execute the whole cycle.

The rest of the accesory functions of the IRIS_GSM library allows the effective management of the communications between the IRIS BOXED PC and any GSM modem with serial port, informing about the state of functionality, radio signal level strength, eventual procedure errors, etc...

The only requirement for the target device is to run Windows CE 6.0 or Windows Embedded 7.0 with Compact FrameWork 3.5., something fulfilled by all the embedded computers of the IRIS series developed by ISURKI.
